Winding-up Committee
On 2 July 2010 the District Court of Reykjavik ruled that a winding-up process should start for Byr Savings Bank (reg. no. 610269-2229). The ruling was based on a request from the Interim Board of the Bank. In accordance with paragraph 4 of Article 101 of Act no. 161/2002 on Financial Institutions, cf. paragraph 5 of Act no. 44/2009, the District Court of Reykjavik appointed three members to the Winding-up Committee.
The Winding-up Committee of Byr Savings Bank has signed an agreement with Islandsbanki hf. to sell its share in Byr hf. to Islandsbanki. The agreement was signed on 12 July 2011 and is subject to approval by both the Competition and the Financial Supervision Authorities.
The Winding-up Committee

- Ágúst Kristinsson, State Authorized Public Accountant.
- Árni Ármann Árnason, Attorney at Law.
The main task of the Winding-up Committee is to handle the claims registration and recognition process, whereby it will formally decide who the creditors of the Bank are as well as the quantum of their claims. The Winding-up Committee will also handle the payment of recognized claims at the appropriate time.
